Your son’s first school will be one of the most important and influential choices you make for him. You want the best for him, and want to make sure that he will discover his strengths in a supportive environment with teachers who give him the individual attention he deserves. Hereworth School will give him all this and more.
At Hereworth we live by our ‘Designed for Boys’ philosophy. To find out more, take a look at our latest magazine and get in touch if you would like a copy mailed out to you.
Most boys love to learn – we have specific differences in our programmes to ensure this is tapped into. Our boys need activity, humour, competition, more playtime and shorter class lessons. They need clear boundaries and expectations and they need to be rewarded when it is due. Boys have a sense of fairness and want to be valued and respected. They love to be treated as boys.
We know that boys and girls are different and academic research tells us that there are very real advantages to the single-gender format of education. Studies prove that boys in an all-boys’ school are more than twice as likely to study subjects such as languages, art, music and drama than those in co-ed schools. They side-step their own reservations and join in.
A Hereworth boy is never short on something to do outside the classroom! With 22 acres of grounds, well-equipped sports sheds and an enthusiastic and supportive teaching staff, our boys are always on the move.
At Hereworth we celebrate the spirit of our boys and fully support them in having fun in every aspect of school life.
We encourage healthy competition and the Hereworth House system and competitive sports allow our boys to develop a strong sense of collegiality and even stronger friendships.
We understand boys, and have created an environment that is designed to get the best out of them. We have a specialised focus on educating boys at the primary school level.
Everything we do at Hereworth is designed to enhance your son’s learning, living and social skills during the incredibly important years of five through to thirteen. There’s a reason why this is called primary education – because it’s of primary importance to how and what your child learns. Boys are often misunderstood and labelled as ‘naughty’, ‘challenging’ or ‘lacking concentration’: we understand that boys need space, they need challenges and they need to be active learners.
We have a school where boys can be boys, where they aren’t afraid to speak up and ask questions and where good boys become great men.
This relates to the boundaries we believe all boys need in their life and learning. A boy who understands his parameters knows where he is going.
Fairness is a fundamental feature of Hereworth life. Most boys have an innate sense of fairness, and we aim to address and respect this in all we do.
The Hereworth community is warm and welcoming. It is unpretentious too – we tell it how it is – as good friends should. We live in a friendly and respectful environment both in and out of the classroom.
We all enjoy life at Hereworth. We believe it is important that our boys have fun in all they do. After all, your school days are supposed to be the best days of your life!
We provide small classes where programmes and activities can be tailored to meet your boy’s specific needs. We celebrate success, treat everyone fairly and we like structure and boundaries because people know where they stand.
We understand that boys can operate at different levels and we actively encourage each boy to work to the best of his ability. Whether your boy needs extension, nurturing or stimulation, we cater for him by making learning enjoyable and relevant. We understand that every boy is special.
We also understand the pace of change and embrace innovation and the challenges it brings. We will encourage your son to explore exciting new possibilities, setting him on the path to being a confident, connected, lifelong learner with well-considered Christian and moral values.
Participation is mandatory across all aspects and every day is stimulating and exciting. We tap into a boy’s sense of wonder and curiosity in the world around him.
