Location & Facility Hire
Our school is a child’s paradise, set in magnificent park-like grounds at the foot of iconic Te Mata Peak in Hawke’s Bay. Blessed with wonderful weather and situated in a caring community, we want our boys and girls to love coming to school each day and to take pride in their surroundings. This starts from the minute they make their way up the winding road that leads directly to the School.
A Unique Enviroment
Located in the friendly community of Havelock North, Hereworth is set amongst 22 acres of established park-like grounds. We have many highly regarded academic, social and sporting amenities on our campus. These include a top quality cricket oval, large grounds catering for all major sports, astro-turf courts, hard court areas and a swimming pool.
We have recently opened the Hereworth Sports Centre, a multi-sport facility with four cricket lanes, two tennis courts, and the ability to play basketball, netball, hockey and other sports. This modern building has been many years in the making and offers Hereworth and the community an all-weather destination for our students to pursue their sporting dreams.
Two adventure playgrounds, along with various hedges, trees, banks and the wilderness area of ‘Scouts Gully’, provide plenty of challenges for the children in their breaks from the classroom programme. We also have a mountain bike track, recently installed in the wake of the damage from Cyclone Gabrielle.
No matter the weather, no matter the situation, there is plenty of room for boys and girls of all ages to run, chase, hide, play, and use their imaginations.
Original Building
The original main building contains a vibrant, well equipped Library, Art Studio, learning support room, a number of music practice rooms, Founders' Room and reception/administration area.
The Library
The library is a comfortable, inviting space and is the academic heart of the School. In the same way, the Chapel is its spiritual heart.
The Founders' Room
The Founders’ Room is a treasured area of the school where all our archives are housed.
Classrooms
Bright airy classrooms in the ‘Wiremu' and ‘Sturge' blocks (housing Year 4 - 8 classes) are complemented by a state of the art Technology and Music building which houses a Computer Suite, Food technology Kitchen, Soft Materials Room and the ‘Shed’ which is home to hard materials.
Junior School
The Junior School block (Year 0 - 3 classes) is very spacious, self-contained and in close proximity to other school facilities.
Chapel
The Chapel is the school’s spiritual heart. It was gifted to the school in 1960 by the H.B. Williams family, in memory of J.N. Williams, who was killed in action in 1942. It is home to regular services for the school community across the week.
The Mountain Bike Track
This fantastic addition to Hereworth allows our students to hit the corners and negotiate the jumps while still on School grounds.
The Sports Centre
With four cricket lanes, two tennis courts, and the ability to play basketball, netball, hockey and other sports, the Hereworth Sports Centre offers our students and the community an all-weather destination for budding sportsmen and women to pursue their sporting dreams.
