Ethan's Story
"As parents we are so proud of Ethan’s achievements and the support and dedication the school has provided to get him there."
Hereworth is the school that turns children into champions – that’s what we believe!
Hereworth has proven to be such a wonderful school in all curricular activities for our son. Ethan is a great boy but he needs some support with his learning, and we were told by a friend of ours that ‘Hereworth is the best school for your boy – make it work’. We took his advice and applied, and we are so, so pleased.
Ethan wears his uniform with pride, and everything is so well organised and communicated. The school has such great professionalism with everything thing they do. Every person is approachable, supportive and helpful, from the teachers to the sports coaches, the uniform shop and the office staff.
We were lucky enough to have Scott Schaw as Ethan’s teacher in his first year, as the two of them shared a common love for rugby. Scott really believed in Ethan as a learner and helped him to enjoy learning, celebrating every success and utilising his strengths.
Gill Unger was Ethan’s second year teacher, and she is one of the most dedicated, passionate, and committed teachers I have ever met. She showed such amazing support toward Ethan’s learning, setting him up with all of the tools to be a lifelong learner through really getting to know Ethan and working alongside him on every task.
This year Ethan was so fortunate to have Scott as his rugby coach and without a doubt his rugby skyrocketed. With so much praise and encouragement Ethan came away with the most valuable player.
We were also grateful to have Ian Scott as Ethan’s classroom teacher. He teaches the students to demand high standard of themselves. Ian is such an amazing communicator and has really pushed Ethan out of his comfort zone
Ethan has also done a great deal of work with the Learning Support Coordinator Jenny Foote and Jenny celebrates every win alongside Ethan. His progress in every area of learning has been so impressive.
The opportunity Hereworth provides the learners is above and beyond! Ethan has been involved in Epro8 Science, and extra-curricular activities and experiences that he would generally not have chosen, including the most exciting prep fixtures all over the North Island from Wellington to Auckland.
Grandparents’ Day has always been a huge success as Ethan proudly shows his grandparents around the school. This is such a special day, as the children can further celebrate their learning with their special people.
Hereworth has such strong values that are implemented and maintained and has definitely turned the children in Ethan’s class into fine young men and women. As parents we are so proud of Ethan’s achievements and the support and dedication the school has provided to get him there.
Thank you Hereworth for such amazing opportunities.
